HD Ride Home: Day 2

Up very early hoping to reach San Antonio by day's end. ABCs of Touring, breakfast in small town OK, then to Dallas for a stop at Longhorn HD. Little did we know the adventure that would soon ensue...

Going south from Dallas on I-35E Nuke's bike blows a cam bearing at 70 MPH at exit 370. Too bad that this exit was completely gone due to construction. Road America took almost 3 hours to arrive and towed us to Waco.

HD Ride Home: Day 3-4  

Day 3 turned out to be a frustrating event. All day work planned for Nuke's Harley so we picked up a rental and toured around Waco. Gunner visited the Texas Ranger Museum - pictures below. By end of day it was clear that the bike was not fixable and no special deal could be made at Waco HD for  new bike. A phone call to Chaz at Milwaukee Harley for a solution that netted us a favor from the owner of a Harley Dealer in Gruene TX. They towed Nuke's bike 150 miles and a replacement was purchased for a "smoking" deal...

Having made our way back to Dallas the night before we headed to Grand Prairie HD to meet the large contingent of riders headed to Fort Smith AK. We met up with Nuke's Sister and her Husband for the party at Old Fort HD. Great party and good to be riding rather than sitting...

HD Ride Home: Day 6

Day 6 was the most scenic route of the entire trip. From Fort Smith to Springfield MO through the Ozarks ending at the Blue Springs HD party in the Kansas City metro area. Met up with more folks for the last few legs of the trip.

HD Ride Home: Day 7

Departing Blue Springs we made a quick stop at the HD plant near the KC airport before heading north to St. Joseph's MO and the Pony Express Museum. A late start and delays caused us to skip the museum, so it was a full tilt ride across MO on Hwy 36 heading to Hannibal. Mark Twain's home was the highlight before heading to Springfield IL for the party at Hall's HD with the gang.

HD Ride Home: Day 8

Couldn't even believe that this was the last day of the trip but off we went to the Quad Cities and the river road to Savanna IL. Home of the famous Iron Horse Social Club and Poppy's Saloon. Lots of fun then to Kegel's HD in Rockford IL before heading home. As we approached Milwaukee 100s of onlookers could be seen waiving from the Interstate overpasses, happy to see so many come to the city to celebrate the 105th Anniversary of hometown success story Harley Davidson.
